PUPPET ANIMATION FESTIVAL 2018

Puppet Animation Festival 2018

A Heart at Sea uses haunting live music to tell the story of a young Boy who bottles up his heart and throws it into the sea. Original song-writing is set to breath-taking visuals centred around a beautifully carved wooden chest that holds the secrets to the story. Intricate puppets are swept through a transforming wooden world created by the spectacular chest. Be astounded as backdrops flip up, pirouette and change, sending the Boy tumbling through danger and discovery. Puppets roam on this unique contraption to recount the story of whales, tiny boats, sea captains and beards.

Nudge Puppets: Tricky - A Fairy Story

Date: 9th Apr 2018

Location: John Gray Centre, Haddington

11AM & 3PM Puppet Animation Festival 2018

Puppet Animation Festival

Have you ever met a fairy? They're shape shifters and mischief makers! Puck is the youngest and cheekiest of the fairies. How will he react when the Fairy Queen takes in a human baby? Tricky is a one woman show, where hands move in unusual ways to create shape-shifting fairies. Using handmade puppets it tells the story of Puck, a baby fairy vying for attention and learning to share. A story about tricks, patience and love.

Then, learn about puppetry in an interactive demonstration: We chat about different types of puppets - including those featured in the show - learning about how they work and how they're made. Participants will have a go, interacting with the puppets and help make them move! This will be followed by a puppet making workshop.
