Royal Scottish National Orchestra
The Brunton and the Lammermuir Festival Present The Royal Scottish National Orchestra
Nicolai: Overture to the Merry Wives of Windsor
Weber: Andante and Hungarian Rondo
Elgar: Serenade for Bassoon and Orchestra
Dvorak: Symphony No 8 in G
Bassoon: David Hubbard
Conductor: Junping Qian
We are thrilled to present a special evening of symphonic music in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s. Nicolai’s rumbustious take on Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor opens a lovely evening of music delivered by Scotland’s national symphony orchestra. Principal bassoonist David performs Weber’s incredibly virtuosic Andante and Hungarian Rondo together with Elgar’s wistful and haunting Romance. The evening ends with Dvorak’s sunniest symphony evoking the beauty of Bohemia and ending with one of the most joyous of all movements
