Bite-Sized Concert: Howells Reid Duo

Matthew Howells, flute and Mary Reid, harp are Howells Reid Duo. These accomplished musicians join us for our Northesk Church afternoon concert series. 
Our Bite-Sized Concerts are just an hour long, followed by time for a free cuppa and chat. Join us for a relaxing break from life’s hustle and bustle.

Event Description

Matthew Howells and Mary Reid first met in 2024 when involved in four performances of Classical Musicians Scotland’s A Night at the Opera.

Matthew studied at the University of Manchester, Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He has performed with several Scottish orchestras and is also a keen chamber musician.
Mary enjoys working as a chamber musician, soloist and freelance orchestral harpist, as well as bringing music to community settings in hospitals, care homes and additional needs classrooms. Growing up in Edinburgh, Los Angeles and Chicago, she graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. After moving back to Scotland, she has enjoyed working with several Scottish orchestras.

Venue & Accessibility

This event will be held at Northesk Parish Church, North Bridge Street, Musselburgh EH21 6AG. 

  • Seating is unallocated.
  • There are 2 steps into the church with a ramp that can be placed over the steps.
  • There are level access toilets inside the church hall, accessed by going out of the church and into the adjoining hall.
  • Spaces for wheelchairs are at the side, front of the church.
  • Accessible parking is across the road, with designated parking bays on Ladywell Way.
  • Gracefield car park is behind The Brunton and there is also a car park on Ladywell Way.
  • Buses stop close by. Musselburgh is served by Lothian and East Coast buses.
