Maxwell Quartet | Fraser Centre

Fri 13 Jun at 3:00pm The Fraser Centre, Tranent Folk and classical music in Tranent

The Maxwell Quartet bring a very special programme of music by Haydn, the 'father of the string quartet', alongside their own signature arrangements of Scottish folk music.

Event Description

The Maxwell Quartet, fresh from the huge success of their third album release of Haydn string quartets alongside Scottish folk tunes, explore music from across the centuries including Dvorak's String Quartet in G, Opus 106, composed upon his return to his homeland of Bohemia, after a period living in America.
Sharing an affinity for the folk music of their native countries, the Maxwells perform this alongside their own distinctive arrangements of Scottish folk music. The Maxwells bring together classical and folk music, believing that the string quartet is the ultimate place for the two styles to co-exist. Their performances are always friendly and engaging for all ages, and there is the opportunity to meet the musicians after the performance.

“Take note of the Maxwell Quartet…they bring charisma and a sense of adventure to their programmes” New York Times
