Music by Manuel de Falla, Gaspar Sanz and Gerald Garcia with Scottish Lute pieces.
This evocative solo programme from guitarist Tim Beattie explores the unexpectedly deep links between Scottish and Spanish musical traditions. Baroque dances from the 17th-century Rowallen Lute Book and Gaspar Sanz’s Suite Española reveal a shared musical vocabulary that was shaped by Europe’s early cultural exchanges and is echoed in the “Canaries” that appear in both sources.
A compelling and imaginative programme that explores music as a vessel of memory, imagination, and belonging.
