Karine Polwart - Light Beyond The Window

Sat 25 May at 7:30pm Corn Exchange, Haddington Haddstock in partnership with The Brunton

Multi-award-winning Scottish songwriter, folk singer and storyteller, headlines at Haddstock.

Event Description

Support band: Gaze Is Ghost.

Karine Polwart is a multi-award-winning Scottish songwriter, folk singer and storyteller. Her songs evoke a richness of place, hidden histories, scientific curiosity and folklore. Trees and rocks speak. Birds flit in and out of vision. She conjures the beauty and the magic, the sorrow and complexity of the corner of her eye, with lyricism and tenderness.

This is a rare chance to enjoy Karine in intimate, conversational solo performance. Expect a clutch of new songs and wonder tales, and an evening suffused with light.

"Long established as a glorious singer, enquiring songwriter and enlightened mind" MOJO ****

"There are few songwriters sharper" Financial Times ****

Gaze is Ghost is the pseudonym of Irish composer and singer-songwriter Laura McGarrigle. Her influences are far reaching, ranging from Joanna Newsom and Julia Holter to Stravinsky and Talk Talk. She has supported acts such as Joan as Policewoman, Kathryn Joseph, SOAK and Holly McNish.

“...full of inventive swells and twists of sound which grab the attention, as does her voice; she moves from low to high notes with effortless grace." For Folks Sake
