Amy Karensa and Catriona MacKenzie perform a song and piano recital for our Bite-Sized Concert series in Musselburgh.
Our Northesk Church afternoon concerts, are just an hour long, followed by time for a free cuppa and chat. Join us for a relaxing break from life’s hustle and bustle. 
Centred on Robert Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben, this programme traces a path from Romantic to twentieth century song, exploring women’s experiences of love and life through the ages.

Event Details

Formed at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Cornish mezzo-soprano Amy Karensa and Scottish pianist Catriona MacKenzie are a vibrant duo united by their passion for Lieder. Amy won the 2025 Elgar Spedding Prize for Lieder, adjudicated by Malcolm Martineau, while Catriona was a 2025 Leeds Lieder Young Artist. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to collaborative song.

This event will be held at Northesk Parish Church, North Bridge Street, Musselburgh EH21 6AG. 

  • Seating is unallocated.
  • There are 2 steps into the church with a ramp that can be placed over the steps.
  • There are level access toilets inside the church hall, accessed by going out of the church and into the adjoining hall.
  • Spaces for wheelchairs are at the side, front of the church.
  • Accessible parking is across the road, with designated parking bays on Ladywell Way.
  • Gracefield car park is behind The Brunton and there is also a car park on Ladywell Way.
  • Buses stop close by. Musselburgh is served by Lothian and East Coast buses.
